Working with a recruiter

  • When you might need a recruiter

    1. When you want to relocate.
    2. When you want access to high-level decision makers in leading companies.
    3. When you do not want your name to be "out there."
    4. When you are too busy to do your job and search for a new one at the same time.
    5. When you have been laid off and need to find a position quickly.
    6. When you want your search managed with high integrity by an expert.

  • When you do not need a recruiter

    1. When you have a strong network and are skilled at managing your job search.
    2. When you are not concerned about confidentiality.
    3. When you are not particularly motivated to find a new position.
    4. When you have less than 5 years' experience (our clients rarely use a recruiter to hire a junior professional).
    5. When you are just 'testing the waters.'

  • What should you expect of your recruiter?

    1. Honest, open, and timely communication
        We will listen to you. We will always tell you directly what we think, positive or negative. We will keep you informed of progress as it happens - you will not have to keep after us.

    2. High Integrity
        You will always get the truth (as we see it) from us. We will not tolerate falsifications of any kind. Our clients know this and candidates we represent reap the benefits.

    3. Knowledge of the business
        We have a cumulative total of nearly 50 years as environmental professionals, and over 15 years as environmental recruiters. We know both fields thoroughly, from first-hand experience.

    4. Targeted coaching and strategizing
        We have effectively coached environmental professionals in many ways, towards many different goals, for years. We will work with you to jointly determine the best strategy for your situation.

    5. Individual attention
        We work closely with the individuals that we represent. We will get to know you, your values and goals, and what matters to you in your career. You will get to know us, too. (Given our personalized service, we cannot take on everyone who wants to work with us.)

        We will work with you and guide you all the way. From the first interview prep until the final decision … we will be there with you.

  • What we expect of you

        We expect to learn about your professional history, your strengths, your weaknesses, your goals, your likes and dislikes at work - whatever is necessary to represent you most effectively and with high integrity. We expect that, to the best of your ability and schedule, you will return our calls promptly.

    2. High Integrity
        We expect that what you tell us (and your interviewers) to be an accurate portrayal of your experience. We urge you to present yourself in the most positive light, without exaggeration.

    3. Openness to our input
        We expect that you will listen to our feedback and recommendations. We do not expect you to do what we say - we just ask that you consider our input with an open mind and be willing to discuss ideas with us.
